2度目の読了。今回は全く短く感じて、だいたい一日で読めた。谷崎の「日本回帰」神話に、神戸という街の国際性を対置することが出来るだろう。渡部直己の言うように、この一見内側に向かって閉じた物語は、背景の国際情勢をにらみながら書かれている。蛍が爆弾の火の粉だとまでは思えなかったけど。

あと、徹底して発話に抵抗する主体として雪子を見るのも面白い。周囲の発話を煽るのは雪子の沈黙である、というエコノミー。電話、電車というテクノロジーが、物語の構築に決定的な影響を与えている。手紙の言葉と電話の言葉を比べると面白いかもしれない。

そして、先ほど触れた蛍狩りの場面

など秀逸。いや、やはりすごいよこれ。

FabianのTime and the Otherを読み始める。Levi-Strauss(アクサン出ないよ。これではジーンズのメーカー）の構造主義的な側面を論じる際に、彼の非時間性を批判するだけではなく、個人的な体験や直感といった物が意外なところで力を発揮していることに彼の理論的立場の非一貫性を見出している。

方法的にはディスコースの分析で、文化人類学の方法論的な問題点を指摘している。

メタ小説。あるいはダンテの煉獄編。物語には原因と結果が必要だが、人生はもっと無秩序な「気分」によって支配されている。主人公は二人の女性に関係したせいで、自殺をするために鉱山にやってくる。山に入った初日の出来事でほとんど小説が終わってしまう。小森陽一『出来事としての文学』は、まるまる一冊、この小説についての論文。だが、いくらなんでも50ページに出来たでしょう。冗長。

川端の『雪国』再読。冒頭の汽車の場面でガラスに映った葉子の顔にとおくの野山の火が重なる場面と、小説最後の火事の場面との照応は面白い。川端の小説の人物は幽霊みたいで、場面からいなくなったと思ったら、ふっとそばに来ているような、空間的な距離感のなさが印象的である。

しかし、まあ、川端は好みではない。アメリカ人の間では大人気だが。
