非常に読みやすい英文。構成も、螺旋を描くように、9・11の個人的な遭遇から説き起こして、様々な映画やテクストの分析を経て、9・11に戻る、まとまったもの。目次を見てのとおり、問題設定の立て方がすばらしくて、Vicarious Traumaなんてよくぞ言ったという感じがするし、translationの問題系への踏み込み方も正しい。一つ一つの分析は正しいんだけど弱いという感じが否めないが、、、。ともかく、9・11をどう読むかという問題に関しては必要なことを一通りしていると思う。

ちなみに娘さんはBrett Kaplan（男のような名前だけど、女性です）。今年の夏にホロコースト本を出した。しかし、ホロコーストをやるにはちょっとさわやか過ぎる人だ。
