finished presentation!

Today, I got my derrida presentation done. I was so upset when I noticed I did not bring the final version of my handout. But I managed to have it done anyway. It is very nice that the professor always encouraged me by nodding while I am exploring the intricate trails of Derrida. She is sweet, yes. I know that I'll miss her when she leaves school next year. She talked about her ideas about associating Derrida's cryptonomy with a reading of a contemporary French novel. I did not hesitate to nod to her, although in fact I was not totally persuaded by her argument.

Next thing that I need to do is a review of Spivak's book, which is due on Friday. Jeeez. I should start thinking about the outline tonight.

I got an email from Belgie (is this an English spelling, or a French one? Probably, French. It's hard to keep the spellings of countries straight.) He became a fairly famous academician in these few years, although his field is very different from mine.

One of my students is almost at the edge of failing to get a credit for my class. I hate to talk with a student about this kind of thing, but I have to. She is not absent from class so often, but alas, she is not capable of memorizing Kanji at all... I saw today's morning that her textbook is filled with colored lines, which means she even previews the things before coming to the class. It would kill my heart to give "F" to such a serious student.
